Robert Hamilton

When cancer finally took Bob Hamilton, he was surrounded by family. A proud, brave, and kind man to the end, he'd seen the worst combat of WWII at age 18, on Pacific Islands now nearly forgotten, with names like Tarawa and Sipan and Okinawa. Weeks before he passed, he took me to the Scottish Highland Games, as his father, and his father's father had. "Grandpa," I asked, "are you afraid of dying?" He paused and then replied: "I never thought I'd see age 21. Every day since has been a gift."

Donation made in his loving memory by his family.
