In honor of Ruth and Kennie Namba, who met at a dance while interned at a Japanese-American internment camp. Ruth taught Kennie to jitterbug. Kennie fought in WWII with the segregated Japanese American 442 RCT. He earned both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After the war, Kennie and Ruth married and today Kennie is quick to introduce Ruth as his "first wife." Today they speak at hundreds of schools and special assemblies.
