CONSULTATION

In the middle of a documentary but don't know what to do next? We'll meet with you personally, review your project, and offer feedback and practical tips to take your work--whatever stage it's at, to the next level.

(Please note: We are a non-profit service for Documentary Arts, and we can only offer help to folks working on projects of a social, historic, cultural, or non-commercial nature; sorry, we can't help you with your screenplay, horror flick, or sci-fi action-adventure project.)

$150 per consultation.

HOME MOVIE TRANSFER, film to video

Film transfers to video tape. Take those old reels of super 8 mm, dust them off, and bring them to NW Documentary before they crumble and are lost forever! We'll transfer them to miniDV or VHS so you can watch them in your VCR or edit them at home on your computer. For a nominal fee, we'll even edit them for you.

$10 per reel transfer fee $6 per Mini DV tape $3 per VHS tape (editing of material negotiable based on length and complexity)

(Note: film, especially old 8 mm becomes brittle with age; while we handle each reel with tender care we'd give our own family memories-- some reels are so old they crack, break, or jam when projected. We'll transfer all we can with the greatest care to create a clean transfer and preserve the original source; however, be aware that some reels may be too damaged by age, storage, or other environmental conditions beyond our control. That said, we have transferred a 8 mm reel of a wedding shot in 1939. It turned out beautifully and if we hadn't, the material would have been long lost to the ages.)

DVD Authoring

Let's face it--a new DVD player costs nearly the same as a DVD; they are dirt cheap these days. Not only that, but nearly every computer today can play DVDs. They're easy to view, easy to mail, and the technology of the 21st Century. So why then, my friend, is your documentary on a VHS tape?

Sure, most any college multimedia major can burn a DVD with their new Mac, but the folks at NW Documentary can help advance both concept and content, technique and technology.

WEB Development

A documentary is only as effective as its outreach to the public. Give your documentary its maximum exposure through a custom made web page. This is not the cheap-o/free hosting and hotmail account stuff, but a fully hosted and developed web page, tailored to the documentary maker.

Rates vary by project.
