Winter warmed one night last December, when at least 50 friends, family and special guests made their way to the top floor of the historic New Market Theatre building in Portland's Old Town. Exposed rough-hewn beams and a glass skylight rose over the open office headquarters of NW Documentary, while strings of small white christmas lights twinkled over the warm conversations and cheer.
NW Documentary was honored to share such enthusiastic support for its first year of workshops, documentaries, and community building. Guests brought mountains of home-baked goodies, and gifts for the new office.
We also screened the first section of the latest documentary project, Sun Gu Ja. In attendence was the documentary's talented narrator, Leonard Hermann, and Ed Han, writer for the Asian Reporter, who helped transcribe and translate Korean interviews.
